The first district is located in District 13, where nearly 2,700 homes were sold last year. The second was District 11, where 1600 properties found its new owners. While the third most popular new residential apartment district was District 9, where 900 properties were sold. The three districts together accounted for 60 percent of all the properties sold in Budapest. It is generally agreed that this year in a similar order, and a similar volume will be expected in the new home market in Budapest especially.
The darkest year of the new home market in Budapest was otherwise 2012, when it only had a total of 1,500 properties sold on the market. Then there was a recovery, and in 2016 the market had already increased by 56 percent, with 6400 new homes sold. Since then, government policies, e.g. 5 percent reduced VAT have pushed forward the real estate market, so by the end of 2017, the number of properties sold rose to a total of 9100. Experts and those presented on the market also see volumes growing in 2018, and the good wave will last until 2019. However, it is not yet known what is waiting for the Budapest property market after the 5 percent VAT deadline expires. The market can only hope.
